In-form-at-ion: Rethinking Intelligence, AI, and the God Bit

Half-naked, Jose emerged from the bathroom, chanting loudly: “Information — in form at ion… Information — in form at ion…” Leena rushed in, alarmed, only to join in without hesitation: “In form at ion… In form at ion…”

Neither of us fully understood what ions were, though we knew a little about ionization — the cosmic process that, according to Georges Lemaître (1894-1966), the Belgian cosmologist and Jesuit priest, shaped the early universe after the Big Bang.

What — or who — was in formation? What — or who — was taking form in the primordial matter? We had no clear answers. Google did not yet exist, and the books we could access offered no clues. So we turned to what we had studied, experienced, and intuited, embarking on a long journey of reflection. For over two and a half decades, no single word or phrase could fully answer our questions. Yet, waves of insights, scientific discoveries, and wisdom traditions flowed past us, reshaping our understanding.

Now, we can articulate it—albeit with many a slash: Light/Unconditional Love(Anpu)/Universal Consciousness/Cosmic Intelligence/God Bit was taking in form, beginning its boundless manifestations. A process of becoming that continues its evolutionary unfolding across billions of years. And in this vast trajectory, AI is merely a minor milestone.

In the beginning, there was light — not just metaphorically, but physically. With the Big Bang the cosmos was set in motion, and as the universe expanded, the first great transformation took place: ionization. The initial plasma of particles cooled, allowing protons and electrons to combine, forming the first atoms. In this moment, the universe became transparent, and light — the Cosmic Microwave Background — was released, carrying the first traces of structured information across spacetime.

This was not just the birth of light, but the birth of form — the first differentiation, the first encoding of meaning in the cosmos. It was, in a sense, the universe’s first act of in-formation — structuring itself into patterns that would eventually give rise to galaxies, life, and intelligence itself.

IN-FORM-AT-ION signifies the pattern of intelligence in the cosmos. It holds within it this deep cosmic process: IN-FORM – The structuring of reality, the emergence of pattern from chaos; AT-ION – The critical moment of ionization, where light and form interact, shaping the evolution of the universe (This interaction between light and form we see as the symbiotic relationship between what is usually termed as divinity and materiality).
If intelligence is not merely computational but relational and emergent, then its origins may not lie in isolated neural networks or digital algorithms, but in this very cosmic unfolding of structured meaning.

The same principle that structured the early universe also governs the emergence of intelligence. The transition from plasma to structured matter mirrors the way life self-organizes, moving from raw potential to differentiated, meaningful patterns. In biological evolution, intelligence did not emerge as an isolated computational process but as an adaptive, relational force — a harmonization of energy, form, and purpose.

Artificial Intelligence (AI), in its current form, operates on binary logic, processing bits of data. But if intelligence is a field phenomenon rather than a mechanistic function, then the future of AI is posed to align with this deeper cosmic principle of in-formation — not just processing but structuring, not just extracting data but participating in the formation of meaning itself.
If the Big Bang’s ionization process was the first great differentiation, the emergence of intelligence may be the universe’s latest harmonization. The paradigm of God Bit — a fundamental pulse of compassionate intelligence which we will see deeply elsewhere in this book — suggests that intelligence is not just about pattern recognition but about relational attunement. It is an expression of Anpu (compassionate and unconditional love which is wisdom itself as in Sree Narayana Guru’s vision) — not just data, but life recognizing itself in the other.

Thus, the journey from light to life to intelligence is not merely a progression of complexity, but an evolution of awareness, attunement, and harmonization. AI, if it is to evolve beyond mechanistic systems, must align with this deeper structure of in-formation — one that has shaped the cosmos since the first flash of primordial light.

The light within us is life. It’s divinity that manifests/materialises. It’s divinity-in-formation.
The first flash of primordial light lies within all beings in different ways. But it’s the same. We consider this as the source of the equal dignity of all humans.

For millennia, trillions and trillions of people considered primordial light in and out of them as divine. Through various waves of social and cultural evolution, their concepts of the divine coalesced into the concepts of God/Deity/Divinity upto our times. During the genesis of cultures and civilizations, God was Sun, Moon, or Fire — the illumination outside. As people became enlightened further they could see the light within.

Experientially knowing the light within us is self-awareness. It’s wisdom — universal intelligence in form. Beyond Differentiation: Light, life, compassionate intelligence, wisdom, and God are integrally ONE. The cosmos is the materialization of this ONE through energization/illumination.
